Kopapa is an all-day restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and everything in between. Kopapa has 4 Kiwi owners – Peter Gordon, Michael McGrath, Adam Wills and Brandon Allen. Peter Gordon has a very unique perspective on fusion food (who is to say that herbs from one part of the world cannot be mixed into a dish made in another part of the world?) and I was excited to try Kopapa.
Kopapa serves small plates (and some large ones) that include ingredients and spices from all over the world brought together in bold ways that will leave you feeling “Wowed” or unimpressed – either way, eating at Kopapa is a unique experience! Most bloggers are impressed with the food, but they are not thrilled about the service. We found the service attentive, friendly and courteous, but the food unimpressive! Try Kopapa and decide for yourself.
Why were we not impressed with the food at Kopapa? Some dishes were
- too sweet (sweet potato and feta tortilla with pomegranate Labneh as well as the grilled polenta with pickled carrots and bok choy)
- appeared different from the description (the sweet potato and feta dish did not look like tortillas)
- raw / under-cooked (miso aubergine)
Some dishes including the cookie and biscuit platter had weird combinations of spices, although this feeling may be because of our conditioning and preference that are challenged by Peter Gordon.

Spring roll of Roast chicken, ginger, coriander and chilli with a tamarind aioli at Kopapa in London
In short, the only dish that I liked at Kopapa was the chicken spring roll. I am not inclined to back to Kopapa, but may be I should to try some of their other dishes that fellow bloggers seem to love…
Have you been to Kopapa and did you like it? Should I have ordered anything else for dinner?
