Farm fresh breakfast at Tom’s Kitchen in Chelsea, London

Tom’s Kitchen in Chelsea, London is a great place to have breakfast or brunch (or lunch or dinner).  The restaurant has 2 levels: the ground floor was very busy and noisy, while upstairs was quiet, and very relaxed with tables set far apart.  The restaurant was child-friendly – there were many guests with babies and buggies – and the wait staff provides paper and pencil for coloring (although one apparently has to ask for these).  There is a Kids Menu too.  Our friends who made the reservation for us mentioned that dinner for two at ground level is a “meal not to be missed”.

Tom’s Kitchen serves seasonal, sustainable and locally produced food – no wonder then that the food tastes so good.  Read more here.  That the eggs are delicious is an understatement!  The bread and the muffins were at least an inch thick (think about that before you order another round of toast!) and full of flavour.    For vegetarians and vegans, there is an Avocado on Toast and a few other dishes on the menu labeled accordingly.

Here are some pictures and comments on what we ate:

  • Cucumber, Apple and Mint Juice was super fresh with no sugar besides the natural sugar from the apples.  I would have preferred this with more apple than cucumber, but am not one to complain when the juice is low-calorie and so  healthy.
  • Eggs Florentine could have included more salt – nothing that could not be rectified either by sprinkling some salt, or by taking a bite of two of the delicious Crispy bacon.  Oh, and the poached eggs had such a lovely yellow-orange hue!   Our friends who got the Eggs Royale with Smoked Salmon were extremely satisfied with their dish.
  • The crisp Belgian waffles with the blue berry compote and Chantilly cream are not be missed at all!

After eating such delicious food at Tom’s Kitchen in Chelsea,  I am keen to try dishes from their brunch, lunch, and dinner menus as well.  Or may be I should head to other locations of Tom’s Kitchen in Somerset House and in Canary Wharf if I am ever in either of those locations.
Now, tell me please, where else in London can one get such farm fresh food  (ideally seasonal, and locally, and sustainably produced and sourced)?
