Annie’s: Brunch in Barnes, London

Annie’s in Barnes (/ Richmond), London is a cozy and comfortable spot serving brunch (Tues – Sun), lunch and dinner and is a short walk from the riverside.

As with many other restaurants serving brunch, Annie’s serves a brunch menu (with eggs) until about noon, and a lunch menu right after noon.  If you go at about 11.30 AM as we did, the entire table has to order dishes from the brunch menu (i.e., the table can’t order from the lunch menu and get it at just after noon – this limited flexibility is common in London restaurants as I have come to realise!)

We went as a group of 9 guests (including kids) during the Christmas holidays.  Service was courteous but could have been more attentive – a dish of Eggs Royale was either forgotten by the server or by the kitchen for about 45 minutes – it does not take much time to prepare Eggs Royale during brunch, especially if its one of the dozen dishes that are served!!

The Avocado with fresh red chilli on grilled sourdough topped with a poached egg was delicious!!  The smashed avocado was tangy (lemon juice?) and was adequately salted. The fresh red chili added a nice kick and the poached egg was done just right.
