La Brasserie, London

La Brasserie, founded in 1972, is the first all day brasserie in London.  We went to La Brasserie for brunch / lunch on a weekend.  It’s a convenient restaurant to go to, especially with kids, if one plans to go to the Natural History Museum or the Science Museum in South Kensington.   Service at La Brasserie was patient and attentive – may be because we went just before noon when the restaurant was not too busy.

The dishes we ordered were better than average, but were not extra-ordinary.  The grilled asparagus salad with courgettes and halloumi was overdressed with the pesto sauce, but tasted fine.  The omlette paysanne (country omlette?) was the best dish that we had that day.

Relative to other restaurants for brunch in the Chelsea / South Kensington area, La Brasserie is middle-of-the-road, i.e., between Tom’s Kitchen and Bumpkin – South Kensington in terms of quality and taste of food as well as in service.
