Navy in NYC opened in April 2014 when there was precious little on the website. There’s more about the restaurant (owners / founders -Matt Abramcyk and Akiva Elstein and Chef Camille Becerra) on its website now. Navy deserves to be among the top seafood restaurants in NYC – it offers excellent choices in a very relaxed, casual atmosphere (also at a reasonable price point). Every dish (or small plate) that we tried at Navy was bursting with flavor and texture. The menu changes daily – the lunch menu has more vegetarian options than the dinner menu. The photos are not the best, given the soft lighting at dinner time at Navy. Service was relaxed, yet attentive and extremely pleasant. Oh! Almost forgot – the restaurant is open until 1 AM on most days and the bar is open until 2 AM (again on most days!), while the restaurant is open from 8 AM for coffee and pastries.
Recommended dishes are (pretty much everything we tried):
- Tuna crudo (pine nut, pickled fruit)
- Black bass crudo (apple, avocado, lime yogurt)
- Salt and Pepper Fritos (fermented black bean, aji aioli)
- Uni toast (celery and sorrel)
